If you’re Gen X like me, you must have some fond memories of the late 80s-early-90s when Synth Pop and New Wave emerged, bringing with them a touch of nostalgia that still resonate today. I don’t often revisit the music of times past as I am always hungry for new, unfound tunes, but in the rare occasions that I feel longing for a touch of nostalgia, I create a playlist like this one today. What actually sparked this sudden dive in the past of mine, was the second track here, “Save A Prayer”, by Duran Duran. It’s one of my favourite tracks from this genre and I was reminded of it while sipping tea in Peru, of all places. I know, it was totally out of character for where I was: Puno, a remote village in the Andes, cold and frosty, on the shore of lake Titicaca. I was there just for 3 days and this happened on my last day, as I was waiting for a bus to take me to my next destination (Bolivia). This is really the power of music. Even in the most distant places, music transcends, it reaches even those who know not what story the lyrics paint, yet are being moved by the sounds, the melodies, the emotions of a beautifully composed piece of musical excellence. Enjoy!
