Fun Fact: Movember – Growing Awareness, One Mustache at a Time

Did you know Movember started with a group of friends in a pub?

That’s right! Movember began in 2003 with a group of friends in Australia who decided to bring back the mustache (this was before the hipster look came around) and raise awareness for men’s health. It’s grown from a small idea into a global movement.

Movember is an annual event during the month of November that involves the growing of mustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues,1 such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s mental health. It’s a month of conversation, fundraising, and community.

A Month of Mustaches and Meaning

Movember is more than just a month of facial hair; it’s a powerful symbol of solidarity and support for men’s health. It’s a chance to break down stigmas and encourage open conversations about important health issues.
